Nyack School District families will have an opportunity to have both an informative and fun-filled afternoon at the District's Family Resource Center annual "Readyfest" celebration on Sunday, September 22 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. at the old Nyack High School, MacCalman field. (Indoors in case of rain.)
The goal of the event is to get families and students ready for the school year. While games and activities entertain the children, tables with information from a wide array of community services and agencies will help families learn about available resources. Free books, supplies, prizes and food will enhance the occasion. The collaborative event has Nyack Head Start as a co-sponsor.
The goal of the Center is to assist families so children can best develop and achieve. Parenting workshops and support groups, play groups, pre-school reading hours, parenting resource library, drop in chats and social worker services are a sample of services available through the center. after-school care. All concerns and problems by any family are encouraged and addressed.
The Center's Director, Julie Kassel, says the annual event, in its fourth year, is informative, fun, and offers a great opportunity for the entire family to get the school year off to a great start. The Center has sites and coordinators at each of the District's elementary schools. For information call 353-7291.
