Bomb Threat at Middle School

On Friday, October 29th there was a bomb threat discovered written on the wall of a rest room at the school. The threat specifically cited a time earlier in the day. However, on the advice of the local police forces, a lockdown was initiated. Further, for the safety of the students, they were not permitted to visit their lockers prior to leaving the building.
A visual search of the building and grounds, in conjunction with a search by the State Police bomb dog did not locate a device. Following the search, the building was secured for the weekend to assure the safe return of students this morning.
We continue to investigate this matter to find the person or people responsible for this action. Please reinforce with your children the seriousness of the bomb threat issue. False bomb threats are a felony in New York State, with a $5000 fine and a possible prison term. Although pranksters seeking attention usually make these threats, the District will pursue those guilty to the full extent of the law and school process.
