Re: Another Bomb Threat

Unfortunately, today we once again discovered a bomb threat written on the wall of a rest room at the school at about 1:00 PM. Per emergency procedures the building was evacuated and a search of the building, in conjunction with bomb dogs, is being conducted at this time (about 2:10 PM). We are hoping that after a search that does not disclose any device students will be able to return to the building to get their possessions.

We want to reiterate how seriously we take these threats that interrupt the educational process and threaten our safety. We will be discussing this issue with our students tomorrow and hope you will also reinforce the seriousness of it with them. False bomb threats are a felony in New York State, with a $5000 fine and a possible prison term. Although pranksters seeking attention usually make these threats, the District will pursue those guilty, in cooperation with the police, to the full extent of the law and school process.

The safety and security of our students and staff are our top priority and we continue to be vigilant in all ways to protect them. Thank you for your cooperation and patience.

Bomb Threat Update: Wed., Nov. 3, 2004

The security search of the Middle School resulted in no device being found. Students will be excused form their homework and exams tomorrow, since their bookbags are in school. They will return in the morning to the room they were last in to retrieve any belongings.
