Re: Public Hearing on DRAFT SAVE Plans - Hilltop Building, Board Meeting, June 19, 8:45 PM
Last year New York State enacted the Safe Schools Against Violence in Education Act (SAVE) which seeks to help schools maintain a safe and secure learning environment. Among the many features of this law are three mandated District safety planning components, developed by committees comprised of staff, and community members, that the School Board must approve by early July.
A required Public Hearing on three of these segments, a District Safety Plan, a District Code of Conduct and Building Safety Plans will be on the agenda of the next School Board meeting on Tuesday, June 19 in the Hilltop Building auditorium at 8:45 PM. (However, the details of the Building Safety Plans are confidential due to the nature of their content.) Some highlights of the two plans are:
Hard copies of the DRAFT plans are available at each school, in the District Public Information Office at Hilltop (353-7013), and in the public libraries. They can also be accessed on the District website, www.nyackschools.com.
