French Students to Visit Nyack, continued:

Their two week itinerary includes classes at the High School, sightseeing in the “Big Apple” (which will include visits to Ground Zero, Ellis Island and ethnic neighborhoods), family get-togethers in the community, and visits to the Middle and Elementary Schools.  A welcome reception will be held at the High School at 2:30 PM on Friday, Ocotber 18.

Niort is one of Nyack High Schools’ two sister school sites, the other being in Dakar, Senega.  The program was originally established twelve years ago through an organization called Partners in Educational and Cultural Exchanges (PEACE) and the New York State Center for Multinational and Comparative Education.  It aims to engender respect and knowledge of different cultures and people.
