UPDATE:  BOMB THREATS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL

Unfortunately, the High School had another bomb threat found written on a desk late yesterday and designated for today.  A police visual search, and one done by bomb sniffing dogs early in the morning, before students arrived, did not locate any device.

For added protection and security the following additional measures were taken:

  • Students and staff were searched before students entered the school.
  • The building was locked down (no doors open and no one allowed to enter the building) thereafter, unless they were searched.
  • Students and staff were kept in their classrooms between 10:45 AM and 11:45 AM, the time the threat indicated.

The school is working closely with the Police, the Sheriff’s Office, and Rockland BOCES Health, Safety and Security Office in dealing with the situation and the investigation.  As mentioned in the letter previously mailed home about Tuesday’s threat, please reinforce with your children the seriousness of the bomb threat issue and that the District will pursue those guilty to the full extent of the law and school process.

Again, the safety and security of our students and staff are our number one priority.  Be assured that everything is being done to maintain the safety and security of our staff and students in the building daily.

Unfortunately, the High School has had two bomb threats this week found written on classroom desks.  Police visual searches, and those done by bomb sniffing dogs did not locate any devices.  On Tuesday students were evacuated and early dismissed.  Yesterday’s threat was designated for today.
