POLICY FOR PARTICIPATION:
- The Nyack Board of Education
considers the concerns of community members to be an important part
of its decision making process and encourages public participation
in Board meetings.
REGULAR BUSINESS
MEETINGS:
- The Board invites pubic comments on
any subject at each regular business meeting.
- When possible and appropriate, the
board also encourages joint Community/Board discussion at this time.
- The board invites members of the
community to speak on action items at each meeting as indicated on
the agenda.
- We ask that individual comments be
limited to three minutes.
- All expressed concerns will be
considered by the Board though there will be no personal or direct
response at this time.
WORKSHOP SESSIONS:
- These sessions provide opportunities
for the public to observe the Board at work.
- The board invites comments,
suggestions, and concerns from the public at each session.
- We ask that individual comments be
limited to three minutes.
SCHOOL DISTRICT GOALS:
Goal 1 – To challenge all
students to reach their highest potential.
Goal 2 – Support students’
efforts to learn and grow by ensuring a safe and caring
environment in all buildings.
Goal 3 – Recognizing the
diversity of the Nyack School District.
Goal 4 – Foster understanding of
school programs and support of all of our students via a
reciprocal communication process between staff and the community
about District goals, programs and achievements.
Goal 5 – Invest fiscal resources
responsibly and effectively to accomplish the District’s
mission.
Goal 6 – Encourage ongoing
professional development of staff. Create development
opportunities for staff members so that they may strive to be
lifelong learners and grow as positive educational role models.
